As we begin 2008, dear friend of His Shiite Bride, we ask you to join us in His Name for a holy time of prayer and fasting for Shiite Muslims.
Jan. 12-21, 2008, Shiite Muslims all over the earth will set aside ten days for collective lamentation and remembrance in an event they call Ashura. They will pray and weep, seeking God's favor and blessing. 
Will YOU as a Follower of Jesus pray and fast for Shiite Muslims during these ten important days of Ashura? Set aside part of the day or night Jan. 12-21, 2008 and ask Jesus, our Good Shepherd, to bring many Shiite families into His sheepfold during this important season. Pass around a sign up sheet to friends at church or work, and as a group cover entire days and nights in prayer and fasting for Shiites during Ashura!

Shiite Muslims are about 15% of the world's Muslims. They are the majority in lands like Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and Bahrain. They also live in lands including Syria, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan. They can be found all over the world. You very well may have a Shiite family living in your city or town!
You probably have heard of these famous Shiites:
- Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan's former Prime Minister who was assassinated last week.
- Muqtadar al-Sadr, Shiite Leader in Iraq
- Hassan Nasrallah, Leader of Hezbollah in Lebanon
- Mahmoud Ahmadinjejad, President of Iran
- Ayatollah Khomeini, Founder and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who died in 1989
God moved mightily during Ashura last year, Jan. 21-30, 2007, when many followers of Jesus prayed and fasted for Shiites. Let's agree together in Jesus' name this year, Jan. 12-21, 2008. As we ask Him to bring many Shiite families into His sheepfold, let's see what God will do!
